- Cayenne Pepper
It is spicy, but it is one of the most suggested effective solution for any kind of inflammation and pain. The secret ingredient – capsaicin – inhibits the pain triggers in human body and this offer relief. Dissolve ¼ tsp cayenne pepper powder in ½ a cup of water. Dip a clean cotton swab in the solution, stir to ensure that the powder sticks on to the swab. Gently moisten your nostrils with this swab till the heat is experienced. It is a little unlikable experience, but the results are fabulous.
- Ice Compress
Place an ice pack on your forehead and close your eyes and rest. The anti-inflammatory nature of ice eases the pain, putting an end to the nausea too. You can alternatively dip a clean towel in a large bowl filled with water and ice cubes. Keep repeating till you feel relaxed.
A tea prepared by simmering ginger root in water can do wonders in easing the pain and nausea associated with migraines. Ginger contains elements that could curb the synthesis of prostaglandin, the pain triggers. Simmer 2 tbsp of finely grated gingerroot in 500 ml water until the concoction is reduced to half. Sip the tea whenever you feel the pain is creeping in and feel the relief in minutes.You can also apply a thick layer of ginger paste on forehead for 20 minutes.
- Peppermint Essential Oil
This essential oil is quite often recommended to ease stress and tension. The soothing effect of this eases your headache and offers relief from inflammation. Just add a few drops to your handkerchief and inhale it. You can also massage it onto the forehead, back of the neck, and temples. Indulge in deep breathing and sip cool water and relax.
Chamomile is gifted generously with anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and soothing properties. This is why it is an effective natural cure for migraines. Including a cup of chamomile in your tea can help in preventing the onset of migraine itself. Add 3 tbsp dried chamomile flowers to 300 ml water and steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Mix in 1 tsp lemon juice and a little honey. Strain the mixture and keep sipping throughout the day to ward off migraine.
