Neem is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial in nature that keeps your teeth and gums clean and away from any microbial build-up. Neem is known for its abilities to reduce plaque, prevent cavities and gum disease, and freshen breath. To use, add powdered neem to your regular toothpaste. Basil is long known as a mouth freshener and oral disinfectant. You can simply chew few basil leaves after meals. Powder made from dry basil leaves can be used to brush teeth. Regularly drink basil tea or use it as a mouth rinse or mouth wash.

Boil sage in water, filter it and use as a mouth wash. If you have swollen gums, you can apply sage juice to it before bedtime.


Henna has a cooling effect, it reduces swelling and irritation in bleeding gums. Boil a handful of fresh henna leaves in 500ml water. Strain and cool the water and use it for mouth rinsing after meals and at bed time to treat bleeding gums.


Clove is well known for its ability to keep dental problems at bay and treat various issues related to teeth and gums. Every night, before going to sleep, apply few drops of clove oil using cotton on gums and teeth. This will strengthen teeth and relieve from sensitivity and sharp pain.


Wheat grass is a well-known detoxifier. It is known to eliminate the toxins from your body. Using wheat grass juice as a mouthwash helps detox the mouth and keeps dental problems at bay. Regularly rinsing the mouth with wheatgrass juice also helps clear plaque.


Tea tree oil contains antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties that can provide quick relief from irritated and inflamed gums. Mix a few drops of tea tree oil in a glass of warm water. Use it as a mouthwash twice daily. Brush your teeth with toothpaste containing tea tree oil as the main ingredient to ease discomfort.
