RICE WATER BENEFITS AND USES

Below is how you could make rice water, its top benefits and ways to use-

RECIPE FOR RICE WATER:

Things you need-

  • 1 cup rice
  • 3 cups water

Directions-

In a saucepan, add rice and water. Simmer on low flame until water gets turbid and viscous. Turn off the flame and strain. Rice can be used in recipes. To make fermented rice water for beauty purposes, skip cooking and only soak rice in water for 2-3 hours or overnight and strain.

BENEFITS:

RADIANT SKIN: Rice water contains vitamins, minerals and amino acids which are essential for beautiful skin, including ferulic acid, which is a great antioxidant, and allantoin, known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Use rice water to deep clean your skin by dipping a cotton ball or pad into the liquid and gently massaging it into your skin for couple of minutes. Let your face air dry to make sure it really absorbs all of the good stuff. With regular use you will notice your skin feeling soft, tight, and radiant.

HAIR GROWTH: Washing your hair with rice water (last hair rinse) makes hair shiny and helps to keep it healthy. Follow up with cold water rinse. You can als mix it with castile soap to make your own rice water shampoo.

CLEAR SKIN: You can also use rice water as a toner. Simply soak cotton pad with rice water and swipe it across your face. This natural skin toner promotes cell growth, stimulates blood flow, and helps keep your skin smooth and bright. Rice water also helps heal acne and cools the redness of an outbreak. It acts as an astringent on the skin, tightening the pores.

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY: Apply rice water directly on rashes or other skin inflammation to soothe it naturally. A dermatological study on patients with atopic dermatitis claimed that taking a 15 minute bath with rice water twice a day could improve the condition significantly. The starch components in rice water are effective in easing the effects of eczema on your skin. Dip a clean washcloth into the water and pat all over the affected skin. Continue doing this for a couple of minutes and make sure you air dry it.

DEEP CONDITION HAIR: Rice water can also be used as a hair conditioner. Add a few drops of rosemary, lavender, or geranium essential oil to the rice water and apply all over your tresses. Let it stay for 10 minutes and then wash off with cold water. Rice water contains inositol, a carbohydrate that helps strengthen elasticity and reduce surface friction.

ENERGY BOOSTER: Since rice is abundant in carbohydrates, it acts as fuel for the body and aids in the normal functioning of the brain. Have cooked rice water in the morning for breakfast or before hitting the gym.

WEIGHT LOSS: Eating rice is extremely beneficial for your health, simply because it does not contain harmful fats, cholesterol or sodium. Any food that can provide nutrients without having any negative impacts on health is a bonus! Low levels of fat, cholesterol, and sodium will also help reduce obesity and the health conditions associated with being overweight.

ADDITIONAL WAYS TO USE RICE WATER:
