Dark nail polishes can leave behind a yellow stain on nails, specially if you have skipped the base coat. To whiten and brighten the nails, try one of these home solutions:

Lemon juice:

Cut a lemon in half and use it directly on the nails. Leave it on for 5mins before you rinse off. Pat dry and moisturize.

Buff the nails lightly to get rid of any stains and whiten the nails. Use an actual nail buffer to buff the nails. Rub the buffer over each nail for 20 to 30 seconds to give it a shine

Hydrogen Peroxide:

Mix one part peroxide with three parts water, then soak your nails in the solution for 10 minutes to take away yellow stains.

Whitening Toothpaste:

Apply a drop of common whitening toothpaste and scrub nails using a tooth-brush or wash cloth to take away stains and restore shine.

Denture tables are made to whiten and brighten, so they can be also used on nails. Dissolve a denture tablet in water as per the instruction and then simply  soak your nails for 5-10mins and rinse for brighter nails.

Use white vinegar to whiten the nails. Add few drops of vinegar to a cotton ball and swipe it on the nails to white them.

Baking soda:

Mix baking soda and lemon juice or hydrogen peroxide into a thick paste. Use toothbrush to brush nails with the paste. Let this paste sit on your nails for 5 minutes and for naturally white nails.

Soak a cotton ball in nail polish remover and use it on each nail for few secs to get rid of any stains.

Whitening Pencil:

For a super-speedy fix, use a nail-whitening pencil under your tips for a brighter look.

Essential Oil:

Simply add few drops of your lemon essential oil into a bowl of water, and soak your fingertips for several minutes to brighten as well as nourish the nails.
